Unmarried couples and those who are not in civil partnerships are most at risk of losing property personal possessions and cash if their partner dies without leaving a Will as current inheritance laws do little to protect new family structures. Four out of five parents have not yet made a will and are gambling with their children’s future. Should both parents die unexpectedly the courts may be left to decide who should look after their children.
Young or old you need a will. If you die without a will, there are certain rules which dictate how your money property or possessions should be allocated. This may not be the way that you would have wished your money and possessions to be distributed:-
unmarried partners and partners who have not registered a civil partnership cannot inherit from each other unless there is a will so the death of one partner may create serious financial problems for the remaining partner if you have children you need to make a will so that proper arrangements for the children can be made if either one or both parents die it may be possible to reduce the amount of tax payable on the inheritance if advice is taken in advance and a will is madeif you're divorced or if your civil partnership has been dissolved you can decide whether to leave anything to an ex-partner who's living with someone elseIf you marry or enter into a registered civil partnership this will make any previous will you have made invalid. It will take longer to sort out your affairs if you don't have a will. This could mean extra distress for your relatives and dependants until they can draw money from your estate.Getawill Limited also offer services to help look after you and your assets whilst you are alive including Lasting Powers of Attorney, Living Wills and Severence of Joint Tenacies.
